Boxboro Meetings Aug 27-29, 2010

RE: FEMARA Press Release       08/19/2010

The ARRL New England Division Convention

The 2010 edition of the ARRL New England Division Convention is a week away!

Mark your calendars now: August 27 - 29, 2010

The FEMARA Committee has pulled together a great event with the help of hams and their organizations from all over New England. We are pleased to announce the keynote speaker ARRL Chief Executive Officer, Dave Sumner, K1ZZ. Here is an opportunity to meet Dave first hand at the ARRL Forums or as our guest of honor at the Saturday evening banquet. Order your banquet tickets early as the seating is limited!

Check out the full schedule of talks and special program activities on the website. A few deserve special mention; in particular Air Force Lt. Colonel Shawn Smith, 6th SWS will be giving a talk on PAVE PAWS Saturday at noon followed by a question and answer session. Just prior to that check out the talk put on by Eric Swartz of Elecraft. Not to be out-done, later in the day the Flex Radio folks will be checking in with a talk on QRP possibilities with the Flex Radio 1500. Always popular, DXCC Card checkers assure me they will be ready! An on-site Fox will be in operation courtesy of NVARC. Be the first to find it! But even before all of that, Friday activities include ICS100 training, a SKYWARN course put on by KD1CY and the first ever Contest Dinner sponsored by YCCC and CTRI. Dinner tickets must be ordered in advance.

The Special Event station W1A will be in operation. Control op N1IW informs me he has lined up a Yaesu FTDX5000MP. This is a good opportunity to operate some of the top shelf amateur radio equipment the industry has to offer and have fun while doing it!

Wouff Hong is back! This is a must attend event! Tickets are available at the show.

Ed, K2TE informs us the Grand Prize will be for a Yaesu FT950 and associated accessories. The hourly prize drawings are all lined up and he canít wait to start passing them out.

Flea Market pricing is geared to improve the Sunday turnout. A Flea Market ticket is good for Saturday and Sunday! Sorry, the Flea Market is NOT open on Friday!

Volunteers are also requested to help with event day execution, please contact K1TWF if you can help out.

The latest updates, online ticketing and general information can be found at http://www.boxboro.org

The Boxboro Holiday Inn, located at the junction of Routes 111 and 495 in Massachusetts, will again open its doors to the Amateur Radio community with its spacious parking and comfortable accommodations. Hotel information is available through the Boxboro.org website. Be sure to ask for the ìBoxboro Ham Radio Convention Rateî when making your reservations.

We hope to see you there!
